Project Description
Gowan Terrace
This was a different project for Ultra Developments to undertake, built in the mid to late 1800s, this stone-built cottage needed a complete renovation from top to bottom. With this property being in a conservation area, we had to be careful not to alter the traditional look and feel this cottage had.
We converted this two-bedroom property, without a completely functioning bathroom, to a three-bed, two-bath, and a downstairs w/c, for added convenience. We retained the beautiful stone lintels above the fireplaces, and left some of the timber purlins on show in the converted loft space, into a cosy bedroom. We added slate internal window cills, to try and add some traditional features, back into the property, we retained a lovely archway feature in the hallway
A small extension was added to the rear of the property, with a charming flat roof window, to let the natural light flood in.
Beautiful oak internal doors were added throughout, upstairs was fitted with hard-wearing wool carpets, while downstairs was fitted with luxury Amtico flooring. We added a wood-burning stove for that extra cosy feel on the cold Lake District nights.
Paint colours were carefully selected, to complement the furnishings, and the new shaker-style kitchen, installed by our kitchen partner HB Kitchens, Julien McDonald.
Flush casement windows and a replica timber door were installed, to match the original door that was there, to the front of the property, and green gravel stone and a selection of bushes and plants give it the finishing touch.
A new slate roof was added, using the original slate.
This was a fantastic project, with some stunning finishes throughout.
